the only thing i have read bad about them is an oil consumption issue

anyone know anything else wrong with them?

I'm not sure of the year of my neighbors Z, but it leaks a lot of oil in his pile of kitty litter. Also I'd be concerned with used sports cars because it's likely that they were driven hard.

Tell your neighbor to fix his oil cooler seal. I just did this on a friend's Infiniti and it was a pretty straightforward job.
1. Remove oil filter.
2. Remove bolt that oil filter screws on,
3. move oil cooler off engine (no need to disconnect any hoses)
4. remove seal attached to oil cooler and replace with new seal
5. Installation is reverse of removal.

Oil consumption is a legit concern for any Nissan v6 and the m45 v8. It was a huge issue with 3.5ho motors but all are susceptible and Nissan won't help. I would find out where it was serviced and go get a printout of the history to see if it's been brought in for that.

If you need an auto I would get a g37 instead.

+1 except that the 370z is a smokin' hottie. The G..... not so much. Best looking Z car since the origional.

To me, any 2 seater sports car really should be a manual. Just seems like a waste to buy an auto z. Definitely agree though, the 370z is sexy compared to the g

If you're gonna be driving hard on the twisties with grippy tires, I remember a track instructor once told those with z's to keep the fuel level up. He said some owners were experiencing fuel starvation even at half tank on high g turns

this one has the paddles on the steering wheel.

Flappy paddles are not the same. I don't think z's are even DSG. They're just switches connect to an auto trans. Might as well bump the gearshift back and forth.

I hate pulling a jules and ragging on someone's decision, but I personally think if you're going to make the sacrifice of driving a tiny 2 seater sports car you might as well learn how to drive a stick.

Ive driven a 370Z for a few days and although nice I found it pretty bland. The steering is uncommunicative and the brakes are wooden without much feel.
There are better sports cars out there in that price range.Certainly an RX8 is way more of a drivers car and much more exciting to go fast in.
370Z = heavy and dull.

And speaking of oil consumption...

RX8's drink oil by design, they all do it.

But those vq motors are not. Some people can go 5k miles without adding a drop.

Others are literally adding 1qt every 1000 miles. 1 qt every 4th fillup. That's a lot of oil. Even worse, it's a slow thing.. At first, .5 qt per 1000 miles. Then over time it gets worse, and worse.

And to nissan, anything less than 1qt/1000 miles is normal and not covered under any warranty. They're hoping it doesn't completely die until past warranty. Meanwhile your intake/EGR system is nasty, sludge everywhere, and resale is in the toilet.

But this is nissan.... So not surprising. I still can't believe what they did to nissan computers.

I still hold a grudge against Nissan for that thing with nissan computers.

The main reason not to buy a 370z is you can get a corvette in the same price ranges used that will be much better.

Used C5 Z06, Used C6, any Mustang GT with track pack.

But a 370Z with Monterrey Blue is HAWT.
