Any reason I should NOT buy this car?

2003 Acura TL Type-S w/35,000 miles

Does it have any common problems? I remember a while back people posting about a common problem with TL transmissions... I think that was 2004 though.

It would replace a 2003 VW Passat GLS (1.8T) that was totalled.

def check the tranny and the warranty....I think Acura covers the tranny to 100K miles.

<---proud owner of a '99 TL 😀

Tranny, yea... I would have that checked.

For... what? 🙂 Just take it to the mechanic and say "check the transmission," or is there something specific to look for?

Is it an Acura certified pre-owned car?

I don't believe it is. I honestly don't put much stock in certified pre-owned though... yeah they "thoroughly" inspect it, and I'm sure most cars would pass the inspection anyway. So for a couple thousand extra you get yourself an extended warranty.

My brother is a finance manager at the dealership, he'll make sure I don't get screwed with a lemon. 🙂

Go ahead buy it

But your car might be in the shop a lot for transmission failure. The Acura dealerships are full of type-s transmission problems.

If you like the TL so much get a 2003 with no type-s.

Either way Acura upped the warranty on the transmission to 100,000 miles so it doesn't matter if it is Acura certified.

Take your chances .. you have warranty.

wow! in that case you're safe.

I love the TL, too bad I can sell my 99 M3 with more miles for more than a 04 TL. I think german cars hold their value the best, but the TL is a very nice car. I love HID lighting.

1999 M3 goes for around $18,000-$20,000. Convertible goes for close to $22,000.

Acura Tl 2004 goes for $27,000 (non-navigation)
