I would like to check my credit report for free.

Anyone know a legitimate way to do this ?

I could pull your credit report, but it would leave an inquiry.

Plus, legally, I'd get in trouble.

i heard an interesting thing regarding inquiries

all auto loan inquiries within a 14 day period count as a single inquiry

all home loan inquiries within a 30 day period count as a single inquiry

this was instituted due to the internet, because it is so easy/fast to shop around for auto/home loans, if you got hit with a seperate inquiry while home mortgage shopping and you applied to 5 lenders, you would get squashed pretty quick

don't use it. Everytime someome checkes your report you lose like 5 point

I don't believe that applies in this case since you are checking your own credit bureau report not applying for credit from a lender.

you maybe right but i would personally not take the chances

Will some of you quit posting misinformation?

There is NO effect on your credit report if you're the one pulling it aside from their putting a "soft inquiry" on it (which can be good...enough of those and you may be able to eventually push off some of the hard inqiries...ie lender pulls). No one aside from you or the credit bureau sees when you pull your own report.
