This is an empirical statement. The only group with worse GRE scores than the graduate ed programs are the graduate kine programs.

So what? Does this make all teachers stupid? Useless? Even you're smart enough to know that's not the case. I even said in another thread that we have a severe problem with our teachers.

Why you've chosen to bring that here and make this about my next chosen profession, and completely shit all over this thread (what do teaching or GRE scores have to do with the OP?) really doesn't make sense to me. Are you really this damaged of a person? Who did this to you? Mom? Dad? Seriously, that's what all of your little thread droppings add up to and it's pretty transparent. You're trolling across multiple threads, multiple days even, because someone dared to disagree with you because you made a colossal assumption about someone you don't know (seems to be a trend for you) about a subject you don't understand. Sorry, I had no idea this would have sent your ego skidding off the tracks in such epic fashion. Have you nothing better to do? God forbid you actually talk about the topic, right? Oh wait, you tried that and it didn't go too well.

Since you're so concerned with my personal life, here's the scoop: I'm currently a Software Architect and will be taking a 75% pay cut to become a teacher. I enjoy mathematics and have 15 years of real world experience from which to draw; I want to share both with kids and help them to appreciate mathematics. If this somehow makes me a lesser person in your world, then I'm thrilled that I don't live in whatever abused fucked up past you can't let go of... because frankly, that's what all of your pointless ad hominem attacks wreak of.

Now, I'm sure if you look hard enough there's some cancer ward volunteer out there who hasn't been put in her place yet by some angsty little manchild. Or you can keep this up and continue making a complete and utter jackass of yourself.

I'm changing my position on the slab v. crawl space: The crawl-space is a much better way to go: if a crawl-space is possible.

I was also off-put by the OPs unwillingness to live around "those" people until I realized that fear is the driving psychological state of the OP and there's little that can be done to overcome that. Neuroticism is a fairly stable personality trait.

I raged so I lose.
Facts are rude aren't they?

A grad-degree to allow you to teach comp-sci in a community collage would be much better:
1) you'd leverage your knowledge
2) you would have a much higher quality of life
3) you wouldn't impose your clear psychological issues on impressionable children
4) you would make a more livable wage
5) you would impact people that want to be there
6) your martyr complex wouldn't keep you from doing right by the kids
7) you can only change those that want to do better but don't know how

It would certainly explain why you've done everything you can to make this entirely personal instead of focusing on the topic.

A grad-degree to allow you to teach comp-sci in a community collage would be much better:

2) you would have a much higher quality of life
3) you wouldn't impose your clear psychological issues on impressionable children

Thanks for the lolz - as for the rest, it's none of your fucking business... just like the OP's finances are none of your fucking business. Seeing the pattern, or will this need to be repeated 3 times like everything else? You see, part of your problem (this is in addition to the simple fact that you're broken) is that you can't cope with the fact that not everyone - I would venture to say most everyone - doesn't share your values and this fries your emotions on a daily basis.

Coincidentally, this is also why 2 year olds throw fits. I imagine your inability to relate/connect to people transcends the Internet and is a secondary source to your angst and frustration.

Anyway, I think I'm about done with you. You're too scared to actually stay on topic (you truly are just one red herring after another) and you're far too presumptuous and guarded to talk about anything deeper. The latter is just a symptom of being really fucked up, so in a weird way, I do feel a little sorry for you because I honestly believe something has happened to make you this way.

You're out to redeem yourself in your own eyes, and I just can't help you with that. The statement that started all of this is still 100% true: spending a hundred thousand dollars on land to solve a problem that is worth far less - especially when free alternatives are readily at your disposal - is idiotic.

Enjoy the last word - it's obviously a trophy you can't live without, which is a little sad itself.
