Any real differences b/w CDex and Exact Audio Copy?

They both seem fine, although I mostly use EAC.

Does anyone know of any qualitative differences between the two? Is there anything one has that the other doesn't?

you cna use EACs WAV compare to check the same track ripped from both software.

you'd be hardpressed to hear any difference. but the difference is there ...

check out hydrogenaudio.org for more info.

I think EAC has a "secure" mode that reads the CD more than once to ensure a bit-to-bit copy, whereas CDex doesn't. I might be wrong though..

I've always preferred CDex over EAC, probably just because I started using CDex first.

I can't really tell much of a difference between the two when listening to MP3's. I have noticed a difference in the ripping speeds, though. CDex is blazing fast when ripping from my 16x DVD drive, while EAC ripping is much slower.

I'm not sure if the settings are identical between the programs, but that agrees with screw3D's logic.

The difference in speed probably means CDex isn't doing the bit-by-by confirmation.
