Any Radeon / Win2k reviews out there...building new comp, need advice!

I know there are posts about Win2k and Radeon, but I have yet
to read a review on the 2..I have read posts about radeon sucking arse
on win2k, yet another post said that with the "special purpose" drivers,
win2k and the radeon ran well together. Can anyone validate this? Better yet,
are there reviews about this?

I am putting together a duron 600 to 1 gig, 256 megs ram, ABIT KT7-RAID (2 IBM 75gxp) with Win2k
and am now trying to figure out which vid card I should get that will run best on this OS. This computer
will be mainly for web dev...lotsa Flash, Illustrator, Photoshop and of course a few games...CS, Balders gate,etc..

appreciate any advice...

I was lookign into getting a Radeon, but the reason I went back to 98 was the lack of Win2000 drivers for my Tv WOnder. ATI is pretty bad whe nit comes to Win2000 support. So be careful. If they say something will be out in a month or 2 be prepared to wait at least 5 or 6 months

I recently installed a 64MB Radeon in a customer's Duron system (ABIT KT7)

It was a dual boot Win98SE & 2000 setup. I installed the special purpose drivers, and it worked very well in both 98SE & 2000. In fact, the Radeon performed much better in 3DMark 2000, UT, and Quake3 than the GeForce GTS it replaced in Win2000. I was very impressed with the quality and performance of the Radeon, especially in Win2000.

Thats good to hear, because I am really starting lean on getting hte Radeon, but I just need to see some sort of review or confirmation. I guess I could just go to bbuy and buy one to see if it works out with the setup on Win 2k and those "special" drivers

If anyones had any experience with Win 2k and radeon...lets hear it, cuz i need to make a decision soon...thanks.

My Radeon 32mb DDR works fine in Win2k and WinMe (dual boot). I do notice about a 5-15% increase in 3d with WinMe though. I think the only issues with Win2k were with the AIW or the VIVO part of the 64mb card.
I don't know whether it's a good idea to mix a Radeon with and Abit Athlon mobo though. I know there were major issues with the Radeon and KA7's

damn, i wanted an AIW radeon in win2k :| ah well, just gotta wait and see i guess.
