I'm trying my luck at Python -- been reading the O'Reilly book for the past couple days, it's pretty good. Taking it slowly, trying to digest it all instead of going to fast and forgetting everything. ;)

Anybody have any tips for me? Things I should know, things I should beware of, etc?

You tit! I soiled my armour I was so scared!

sorry i was thinking of the monty variety as well...
i've used python some, very easy to pick up, not extremely powerful but then it wasnt meant to be, but i'm sure youve determined this yourself already...in any case beloved patriot luck on your quest for the Holy Grai....err, python knowledge...

I have the New Riders Python reference book -- it's pretty good. The O'Reilly one is more of a tutorial, but the reference is better for someone who's already an experienced programmer.

Python is a nice language.. I use it whenver I can for scripts and small apps. It's just really fun to code in.

If you're used to other languages, the first thing that may bother you is the enforced whitespace rules. It bugged me at first, but I kinda like it now.

<< *sigh*

I knew I shouldn't have posted this in OT.

Yeah, I think the people in software would be more helpful. A board dedicated to Python would probably be even better.

Last month I started fooling around with python on my machine.

I am mostly interested in the python imaging library or "PIL" as it is called.

So far so good, although the only thing I have done so far is write a couple scripts to render fractals...

Maybe I can dig a couple up and post them... just a sec...

*edit* - nope cant find them. But they were pretty nifty looking because I rendered them in 1600x1200 @ 24bit color.
