Hi guys,

I would like to known if any of you have some power supply to recommend to me. I always used Antec PSU, and never had any problem, so they are my favorite choice, but, this time, I'm going to build a Quiet Computer, and I need a Quiet Power Supply.

Here's what I intend to put in my build:

AMD Athlon 3700+ San Diego (will be overclocked)
dfi lanparty ut nf4 ultra-d
nvidia 6800 ultra

I won't use SLI. I just read somewhere that a 6800 ultra needs at least a 480watts psu!

So what psu would you recommend to me, knwing that it must be quiet and powerfull.

I've saw the new Antec's TruePower series, but can't find any reviews on it... What would you recommend?

I had an Antec Truepower 550 go bad only after about a year and a half, the rails suddenly dropped, and my particular version had no adjustable pots. Avoid any of the cheap brands like Allied/Dynapower etc, cuz they use cheap parts and you will end up with leaky capacitors and stuff.

I dislike the location the fan in the phantom is located, my old PS had a fan in that location and they end up sucking up to much dust thru your drive bays

I have an old seasonic in one of my old rigs just like that and it doesn't give me any problems. It probably depends on ur case layout and the amount of fans.

The 6800 Ultra dose not need a 480 watt PSU. With the specs in your proposed system a 300-350 watt quality PSU would be just fine. As for recommendations, I would look at any 300+ watt Seasonic, the new S12 series is nice. Passive PSU's (Antec Phantom) are more trouble then they are worth in my opinion as they rely on good case air flow to keep them cool. With a system like yours the problem will be even more pronounced since you'll be looking at fairly high power draw at load.

Also since you aim is low noise you will need to ditch the stock cooler on the 6800, the Zalman VF-700 is the best option. If the mother board has an active heat sink on the north bridge that will have to be replaced with a passive unit as well. You may want to change the hard drive to a Seagate or Samsung.
