got a virus on my comp contained in a file syscfg32.exe, and I can't delete it normally and Norton can't qurantine it. Isn't there some progs out there that allow you to delete a file outright, regardless of if its being accessed or not?

Yep, which is one of the reasons why I ignore the NTFS-is-better crowd and keep installing Win2K pro and server on FAT32 partitions instead.

But for Qosis (who did listen to the crowd) : can't you boot from your 2K / XP CD and open a console or do other recovery-type things? (Never had to do this myself)

Sometimes, NTFS is better than FAT - huge files (4GB+) - video editing... :)

Use the recovery console on the 2K/XP cd to access the NTFS partition without booting from it
Or, buy NTFS4DOS, the pay version has write capabilities.

NTFS is better, you just have to know how to use it.
