Denno Coil. Its basically about a city that is half virtual and half real. There are these special glasses that allow people to see the virtual side of the world.

Its remarkably entertaining, mostly because you just wish that it could be like that in real life. There are also many moments that you just laugh at.

Of course, I'm a amateur programmers, so I it was an interesting challenge to figure out what stuff meant like "metadata" and wondering how great it would be if I could actually do some of the tricks they do. ( A man can dream....)

First episode is more of a "what the hell is going on..I'm so confused" episode, but you get the hang of everything by the second.

One grip I have is the character designs. Its the one anime I've seen where I thought some of the girls were guys, which confused me as they were wearing skirts.

Anyone interested in a good anime should give this a try.

Lies. Not When they're awesome. Especially with huge ass red giant robot things that sound like a child molester.

You are not a real hacker until you hack a Gibson.

And txrandom is correct about Anime.

meh, I have never liked shows with a computer side to it, Particularly because I know enough about them to cringe every time the give an untrue statement or do something unrealistic. "He is going to send a computer virus through the power lines that will destroy EVERYTHING." or "Ok, we hacked enough to get the Ip, its 301.294.429.257". Or "He's trying to send a message to our satellites, read me the IP addresses so I can slowly type them in to shut down the satellites!"

The Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series is one of the few with a mostly believable portrayal of computers and hacking. Or at least one that doesn't make you cringe.

I actually tried to watch the first episode, but couldn't figure out why I'm supposed to care about a stupid, non-living dog program and why they didn't just restore it from its last backup when it got lost. I work full time as a programmer, so guess being one doesn't guarantee you'll like it.
