Any problems with the Radeon 8500 and everquest?

I'm going to get some crack (everqust ) sometime whenever amazon ships the game out...and I'm wondering if the game works with this card...I thought I read something about eq and radeon cards...but I'm not sure...so that's why I'm asking you yous is there any drivers that conflict with eq...or best ones...etc? thanks

I'd think so, never seen any problems with it anywhere, and its not on their known bug sheet, I don't think. Its not on the 8500 game list, but most games aren't, they have to be new to make it I think.

Not that I'm aware of... one of my close friends is an Everquest addict and he runs an R8500 so I'm sure I would have heard if he had any issues.

can you post his specs? because many people at the rage3d forums seem to have a lot of problems...

A lot of people on the Rage 3d forums seem to have a lot of problems in general. I've never had any show stopping problems with my 8500(although I've never tried it with everquest) but it seems the vocal minority own those forums and take every opportunity to complain.

I really don't have any problem with people asking for help but most of the people who complain constantly seem to think that its impossible that they've done anything wrong and keep posting crap like "If ati doesn't realease working drivers within the month then I'll hold my breath till I die". It gets kinda irritating when my system does work properly and I'm going through threads trying to figure out if a driver release is faster than the last.

Reminds me a lot of the Hercules forums before they released the Windows XP drivers(hell maybe those forums are still that way cause since they released them I've never gone back).

yeah...I hate all that say stuff like...ati can't produce a working driver...etc..etc...even though they could be the ones that are causing the problems....well...feb 14th eq comes.....hope it works!

I've mostly stopped reading the Rage3D forums, some of the people there can be very helpful... but much of them just seem set on blaming any and every possible problem on ATi.
