I'm just about to buy one from staples, a 10gigger@7200RPMS.
I would buy the 20gigger@5400, but the 25off100 coupon won't work for it...its $99.99!! Geeeez....bastards. So last minute confirmation...good drive?

What model is it? I'd say all Quantum drives are pretty good(the Fireball+LM is awesome, or AS are nice) since they stopped making those crazy Bigfoot drives that were so problematic.

My 30GB AS so far is flawless.

My old P200 system still has a 5.25 bigfoot circa 1995 that has been reliable too. I think their drives are pretty darn good.

You are lucky if your Bigfoot is still working, they really suck, slow and unreliable. IBM is tops, then Maxtor, then Quantum, WD, Seagate, in that order.

Yeah the Quantum Fireball drives are great especially the LM, the only complaint I have with mine is it's a BIT loud but doesn't really bother me much. I just stuck a piece of thick gloss paper between the hard drive cage and the case to dampen it. Fine now. Very fast drive also.

Have the CR and KA fireball drives for a while now - appears to be reliable but noisy. Had some initial problems but long gone. Just bought 2 new AS drives and they are very quiet (similar to Maxtor and Ibm) and much better/faster than the previous models.

I've had the 30GB AS in my system for awhile and I really like it. It is a little loud at times I agree but over all I am very happy with it. This is the third Quantum I've owned and all have been good drives.

I just installed a Maxtor 60gig 7200rpm drive this week, it's so quite, almost silent, very fast too. I got it for $170 delivered, from ubid.com
