I've had several people ask me about which company to buy from, and/or what kind of system they should get. Obviously, building a rig ain't for everyone.
Anyone have any good or bad experiences with prebuild companies? Most of my friends are looking to Dell, which seem OK, if not very interesting. I know one person who's happy with a system from Monarch.

thanks for any input!

it depends on what the usage of the system will be, the budget, and expected lifespan..

if you want dirt cheap, replace every 1-2 years then buy any Dell / emachine / hp

if you want a little more features, higher quality, and longer lifespan, then go with Alienware / Sony / Gateway

if you want the highest performance, highest quality, longest lifespan, then go with Falcon NW or build your own system.

Many people should buy "factory boxes"!
If they try and build themselves, they end up starting endless threads here.

Dell's are not what you'd get if you plan on upgrading, but if you want a cheap box to last a couple years before having to replace whole rig, then they are good. Depending on what they want to do on it, it could last even longer.
