Any pre-built analog fan controllers out there?

I'd really love to find some kind of mass-produced DIY kit that simply screws into the heat sink.

Something along the lines of a thermistor with a screw hole, and a small PCB with a couple of Analog Devices chips or simply a couple of voltage regulators being set by the thermistor.

Anybody know anything about a product like that? I've seen a small proprietary solution I may be able to get my hands on, but I'd probably have to fab it myself (I don't think they've got any PCBs lying around).

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

HSFs don't get that hot!

Personally, I don't think thermistors and such are going to do jack for you...

MOSFETs and NBs are a different matter. Mine get so hot you can smell the dust burning off them, but nobody seems to care about them!

You can get NTC thermistors that you can just put in series with the +12V wire of the fan. You'd just have to figure out a way to mount it to the heatsink. You just have to calculate the resistance of your fan and get one with a resistance curve that suits. You can get fans that have thermistors built in and some with a wire mounted thermistor that you can attach to whatever you want.
