System is in sig. I don't really have any major issues in COD. I figure if I could upgrade to a newer card that has better performance and is ~$200, I would consider it.

Newegg link to card.

no. i regret upgrading my 8800GT to 9800GT because it was a waste of $$$. 260 might be a good price now but i dont think it merits a $200 upgrade.

This is worth looking at:

Well, my LCD is a Dell 2407 so it will do 1920x1200. I can't remember when I installed the game what I set the in game resolution at. i am thinking 1024 x 768 or maybe the next one up. I seem to rememner 1920 not running very good.

So, if I had my way I would want 1920 x 1200.

The 9800GT provides the exact same performance as the 8800GT. You wouldn't see a performance difference in any game, not just CoD.

I'd just stick with the 8800GT personally. It's still a really good card no point in upgrading unless you're going to move up to a bigger monitor.

My 9800GT (8800gt) plays W@W at 1920 with high settings with good enough FPS, Not sure why you had problems

I wouldn't say I had problems. I think it defaulted to a lower resoultion when I installed the game. A week or so after playing I seem to remember bumping it up to 1920 but didn't think it was quite as smooth as the lower res. This was back in Nov when the game was released so maybe I will put it back up there and test it again.

Also, there are alot of graphic settings in the options and I left them all default. Not sure if they were just not the correct settings???

If yours plays fine and you would be so kind as to share your settings, I would like to try again.

Another thing is I never overclocked my 8800GT. Never even looked into it. Would the performance increase be very noticable?

 You realize they are THE SAME CARD right?? Haha, sorry that's just hilarious. Nvidia's marketing is misleading.

I would recommend at least going with a gts 250. now THAT would be a worthwhile upgrade.

I just upgraded my E6300 @2.8 from an 8800gts 320MB to a GTX260 that I got from Newegg open box ($135).I run games at 1900x1200 on a topaz monitor and Ive noticed a decent boost in frames (plus Ive been able to crank the graphics up some). I mainly play UT3 and WoW. I wouldn't go any less than the 260 as an upgrade, for me it was a decent but not mind blowing upgrade...

I went from a SC 8800GT to a SC 9800GT and it was a total waste. My FS increased 0% they are pretty much the exact same card...

I was wondering how the OP's question could have gotten 18 responses, since COD W@W isn't exactly Crysis, but....

I can't believe that people who post in the video card sub-forum could have done that. Maybe I shouldn't say that, but it surprises me.

thanks Caveman

Can you please list your video settings in game and/or in nvidia's control panel? I would really like to see exactly what yours is set and so I can optimize mine.
