Any places still sell nice CRTs?

I've been on the monitor hunt for the past few days, something 20"+ that's good for gaming and has a very nice picture. Sadly, there haven't been any good LCD deals lately, and LCD monitors still have some of the same problems they've always had (backlight bleeding mainly). And looking in all of the stores i've looked at, most LCDs look dull and blurry. Not to mention they are super expensive. I think I'd rather get a 20"+ high quality CRT. I had the one in my sig for a couple years and the picture was excellent, crisp and beautiful. It had ghosting issues though. I got it used for $225 two years ago.

Anyhow, is there anywhere I can find nice CRTs still for sale? I'd consider new or used ones. They seem to be extinct now though. I want to buy locally so I can see them in person, I got totally screwed on Ebay last time I bought on there. Also, craigslist here is dry and doesn't have anything of the sort. When I do find CRTs in retail stores, they are almost always 17" and no bigger. I want at least a 20" monitor, preferably something manufactured in the last 3 or 4 years.

People always talk about CRTs being crisper than LCDs, but I just got an LCD and it's far more crisp than any CRT I've ever seen.

My only recommendation is to check local computer shops. I picked up a used NEC Multisync XV 17" for $25 last summer. Still works great, sounds like a big old TV when you turn it on :D

I had about 20 17" CRT monitors. I couldn't give them away for $5 on craigslist. They all ended up in the trash. CRT is dead.

CRT still rule for picture quality and color contrast. No lame pixelation. I can hardly wait for SED's to hit the market so the lame LCD and Plasma can go extinct.

Shat, I can't believe my options are so limited. I might try and get my 22" NEC monitor (which just recently broke) repaired tomorrow. Dunno who will do that, hopefully just the power button is broken, but ii suspect the monitor is just dead.

check craig's list for a Dell or Sony Trinitron. They're the same things just under different names. I have an 18.5 viewable and I love it, it's slowly starting to go though.

Last time I looked, Newegg had a an NEC 22 inch Diamondtron & a less expensive Viewsonic 21 inch new for sale... also the much less desireable NEC Accusync 120 which has a nice picture, but no flat screen.

You can also check out www.AccurateIT.com & the idea of checking E-Bay for the 24 Inch Sony & HP wide-screen's is a good one too.

I got a LCD recently and love it, however, I can't bring myself to get rid of my 19" NEC FE990. I'll go back and forth until it dies which it shows no sign of doing anytime soon.

I'm only interested if you live in Tucson and I might be able to pick it up. If not, thanks anyways.

What's the model name/number?

Thanks for the effort. Only monitor I might be interested is that first one but the guy doesn't say what model it is, like cragislist sellers like to leave out :p

Right now I'm leaning toward trying to get my monitor fixed tomorrow or friday, I really haven't been wooed by any other monitors yet.

A crappy CRT will not compare to a good LCD.

I recently purchased a Sony CPM-G500 OEM: Dell P1110, 21" CRT off ebay.

There is a 22 Mits that may be slightly better, I can't remember the number.

I picked it up for about $100 shipped. However, it took about 5 shipped until I got one UPS didn't destroy...literally.

If widescreen is sought, then that 24" sony/HP one is a great one. Pricing is usually high on these though.

Went on craigslist, saw some dumb ass trying to sell a 20" widescreen Mac monitor for $800. I put him in his place.

Drat. I've been looking to offload my Sony GDM-F500 21" which is collecting dust. $hipping is out of the question for that beast.
