I see none at the moment (as it is another safety measure against self-executing malware), but would like to hear your thoughts. Basically, I'm just worried that it might cause application errors or conflicts

I've yet to see a problem with it.

That update applies only to restricting autoplay choices/entries in XP/SP3. It should not cause any problems.
