How long did/does it take to get through pharmschool? 6 years? I'm assuming you have to go full time? Glad you chose this career path? Just looking for some feedback on the feasibility of a different career as everything computer related is getting outsourced/downsized.

Hi. I'm not a pharmacist.....yet. However, Im studying to be one. My new neighbors, him and his gf, are both pharmacist so I have ask him alot of questions. He went with the quickest route I've known. Basically, he was an undergrad at USC for 2 year then go on to pharm school at USC. Unlike him, I would like to get a BS in Bio so I can be more prepare and hoping that science stuff in pharm school will come easier to me then. I'm looking at 4 year of undergrad and then pharm school. He said he was glad he chose this career path because it paid well and it doesnt hinder on his social life that much.

I hope it helps.

My sister is studying to be a pharmacist. I'll let her respond:

I chose the longer path. I went to 4 years of undergrad, and then decided to do pharmacy (that's 4 years of the professional program)... so it's taking me 8 years out of high school to complete. You can also choose to go to pharmacy school straight out of high school (2 yrs pre-professional, then 4 yrs professional)... so that's 6 years altogether. I personally enjoy the classes... it's very interesting. Pharmacy is a great field b/c you can choose to work retail, hospital, go thru a residency to be a clinical pharmacist... etc... and the best part is that there is such a demand for pharmacists that once you get out of school, you're almost guaranteed a job.

I am in my final year of Pharmacy school. I will graduate with my Pharm.D. in May 2004. I did the 6 year route as mentioned above(2 years pre-pharmacy and then 4 years professional school). Am I pleased with my decision to go into pharmacy? So days yes, some days no. The classes in pharmacy aren't extremely difficult, yet they are not all that easy. If you stayed focused, you will be fine. Currently I am applying for pharmacy residencies.
