Any personal experience with both the Nikon D610 and the Canon 6D ?

I'm not ready yet to buy a replacement for my dearly departed D90, but am building a case for either staying with Nikon or moving to Canon.

I believe the Canon 6D is the entry level Full Frame from Canon, similar to the D600/610 from Nikon.

If you have owned or used both of these, which one did you like more, and why?

I agree that 'better images' is a subjective opinion, but I'm still interested in any personal experience comparing the two, and also if other things stood out (weight, quicker focus, etc).

I have seen used 6Ds on sale on the local Craigslist at much lower price than the D610s, which made me wonder if it was just coincidence, or there's more to it. This, despite the dismal reputation of the D600 because of the "oil spots" issue (that seems to be dogging the D610 too).

I always believe that Canon EOS 6D is the advanced digital camera while all EOS Rebel series such as T5i is the entry level dSLR?

I'm looking strictly at the Full Frame line-up, and I couldn't see anything smaller/cheaper than the 6D from Canon. The Rebel series are APS-C.

I do not have the 6D, but I have the 5D mkII and I think the 6D is quite similar except that the 6D have a slightly better sensor with max shutter at 1/4000s instead 1/8000s as the 5D & 1Dx.

To me it is not worth it to get the 6D unless you are into video but there are better solution out there than what the 6D can offer. To me the best solution to get into full frame for still photography is a used 5D because it produce very nice portraits and is damned good for general photography.

Low light focusing and capability of the 6d is amazing. With the 24mm IS prime I have been able to take pictures at night that would have required a tripod.

I also like the fact that the 6d is a small SLR camera. With the 24mm is it's small and light.

I wish a 50mm IS prime would be available.

Sony A7 is smaller than 6D/D610, and costs the same or even cheaper (was recently on sale for ~$1600 with 28-70mm lens).

My current recommendation is Nikon or Sony. I shoot with the 6d. Its a nice camera and im sure overall your not going to see a huge difference in image quality but the edge will go to Nikon. Better iq and more af points. However I will say this about the 6d's antiquated af point selection, i havent had any problems shooting my static subjects that I like to shoot
