Any performance penalties when using integrated sound on mobo?

ugh

Platinum Member
Hi all,

Can someone tell me if I'll experience any performance penalty if I use the integrated sound feature on my mobo?

Thanks.

Well...in comparison between onboard PC128 and outboard PC128 your probably not going to notice a difference, because I dont think either take the load off the processer. Now if you were to compare onboard C-Media to say an Audigy or Gametheater XP you'd notice a pretty big different in CPU % in games, but even my onboard sound doesnt ever take up more than 10% of CPU power even with all the features turned on in games. But your better off with outboard

I think I'll go for the onboard audio in this case since you mentioned that there won't be a difference. That'll make the casing less messy.
