Any performance loss from AGP 2X to 1X?

A mild loss in performance but nothing terribly significant. Approximately 5% in most cases in my experience.

All I can say is what I experienced. I once tried this Geforce256 on a mobo with 1X and it was no faster than my TNT2. I then tried it in another computer (equivalent in specs) and the FPS picked up. I would say there is a little bit of differace...

doubtfully

every time I have tested, at most I have lost 1fps

this been done on several systems

PII-400 with G400Max
" " with voodoo3
P3-600 with voodoo3
p3-600 with SDR
p3-800EB with SDR
p3-800EB with GF2

Something must have been configured differently, even a PCI GeForce 256 would be faster then a TNT2.

Thanks for the feedback guys. ONe more thing, how often do games use the system memory to store data anyway?

not much. When they do, you often see a dramatic decline in system performance because the memory bottleneck increases by alot. I believe when FSAA is used or when running at very high resolutions is the only times when system memory is used often

Thanks for the info. I guess I'm a bit safe since I only run at 8x6 😉

You'll see a difference when running T&L games such as Quake 3 in CPU limited situations. You'll also see a difference when performing texture swaps.
