with all these cheap hdd flying around the hot deals forum i was wondering if it is possible to buy a pci ide card that supports more than four drives? i haven't seen any personally, so do they make em?

oh and raid would be nice if not to much to ask

New they are expensive, but Promise does make one with 6 individual channels on it (it's their higher end IDE raid card). I run one currently with 6 40's on it, but am planning on swapping to 6 200's when they become available (the card does support 48bit addressing so the 160gig drives will work today on it).

3ware also make a very nice 8 channel raid controller.

Remember on most of the high end raid boards, they ONLY support one drive per channel (no slaves).

Adaptecs 2400A is also a nice 4 channel raid, up to 128MB Cache on board too
