Any PC users with Apple iPods in here?

I'm intrigued by an Apple product, the new 10GB iPod. It's the best looking, lightest, has good battery life, firewire, is easy to operate and now also has 10GB of storage. The price is high, but its looks justify somehow.

I know there are programs available to make an iPod play nice with PCs. What I'd like to know is how functional and easy this whole ordeal is.

Well I heard a lot of speculation about companies creating PC versions for the iPod, but I haven't seen them in action or heard anything about them since the initial hype about how cool it'd be to run a mac product on the PC...

Maybe I'm wrong...

I'd be very interested in an iPod as well, especially since Windows-friendly software is (supposedly) fully functional.

Anyone else with more insight?

Hold out until July (Macworld event). There have been rumors of Apple releasing a PC friendly version of the iPod. If this happens I'll definitely buy one. I've wanted one for months, but the 3rd party PC software just doesn't seem reliable enough to work with a $4-500 toy. Although, MediaFour's "XPlay" is coming a long. They've made a lot of progress, but you'll still read plenty of reports of dead iPods from users even with the latest build of XPlay.

Yea, I didn't think the third-party software was all too reliable. I thought that Apple might release an iPod for the PC, but at Macworld?

"Well, our biggest news this time around is that we're releasing the iPod for the PC running Windows OS..."

If it actually happens, I wonder exactly how they'll announce it. I remember all the fuss Apple made about the iPod prior to its release, and how disapointed all the Mac users were after it was announced/released. I wonder how they'd take the PC thing.

Well no one knows if or when it will happen. Wishful thinking I guess. If it does, I doubt it will be their headliner annoucement. I imagine it will be shadowed by something more significant. Why were the Mac users disappointed? The iPod is awesome! I supose they wanted some sort of color PDA running a lite version of OS X?

I guess they just got their hopes up for something never dreamed of before. I don't know, but they just thought it wasn't revolutionary at all...
