Don't need too many frills just a good OCer with hopefully 5.1 audio... DDR a must too

so tempted to move to the darkside...

Wow that is one ugly board! (Looks like an intel) good price features though! Have to think about it I hear googlegear (which I HATE) has P4's that are getting 3.2-3.4ghz pretty regularly. Man $102 for a PE chipset why so cheap?

beggars can't be choosers. Dude u look at the monitor, not at your motherboard. I have a radeon 9700 pro that is green and looks like poop. I could care less, I do care about getting 45 fps on UT2k3 with everything maxed out. Anyways I would recommened the Albatron intel PE board for 80 bucks, it is blue and looks cool. But I would definently go for the Abit BH7 board, unless if you have crap for brains.

another vote for the Abit BH7...currently have it at 185FSB (tested upto 190FSB) and can go higher ;)

ok just becuase it is cheap and used what about this board?

ABIT IT7MAX P4 Motherboard
In retail box with all accessories unopened.
Achieve massive overclocks with this board, IT has high vcore (1.85!) and vmem(3.2) voltages w/ custom BIOS
IT has 6 IDE's, ATA-133 RAID,Onboard LAN, USB 2.0, IEEE 1394, 6-Ch Audio etc..
This board is in perfect condition, and has only been used about 20 hours.

think it is version 1 I can get it for about the same price. might be able to trade

The IT7 MAX is a fine board. It is loaded with goodies, OC's well, and is very stable. Make sure that you have a USB mouse and keyboard though. ;) The IT7 will not have a 4:5 memory ratio available, which is something to think about if you are OC'ing.

I have retired my IT7, and am currently using the BH7 until a dual channel DDR mobo I like is available.

CPU / DDR ratio examples

1:1 CPU@133MHz 133x1=DDR@266MHz (133MHzx2)
3:4 CPU@133MHz 133/3 x4=DDR@354MHz (177MHzx2)
4:5 CPU@133MHz 133/4 x5=DDR@333MHz (166.5x2)

IT7 Max is a fine board with all the bells and whistles, but another thing to consider is that ONLY version 2 of Max2 is PE chipset (out of IT7 series), which has support for Hyper Threading. Something You might want to consider for the future. Btw, BH-7 is PE chipset.

Ya I think the IT7 version one is not for me.

What you all think about the retail Abit SR7-8X

said $65 shipped but... I'd have to buy a sound card... It has 2 channel sound and I have a 5.1 setup... I think I answered my own question there.

You all think Albatron can be trusted? I have their 4200 but really have not heard much about their Mobos $82 shipped at newegg sounds quite competitive.

Someone see this and offer me your lightly used P4 board!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

dude EXman, get the BH7 lol. You should listen to everyone saying the same thing. There is a reason why we are recommending this board. I will be building my friends system using this next week.

I have the albatron and I can say honestly I had this board running stable at 2.4b@3.33ghz or 185fsb....I run it now at lower 3.24ghz so I can run the 450mhz ddr. seems to be a good mobo for ocing of the ram which is important as I have seen some boards that don't do as well on that front. 4:5 ratio available!!!

My only knock on it is that the vcore undervolts around .07v...never fear as they give you up to 1.85v in vore options so basically 1.78v actual an dbeyond what most consider a safe operating range.

Other then that I really like the bios layout...no jumper necessary as all the options on the board...

Oh yeah...May not be a concern to you unless you oc the snot out of your vid card as well but the agp only volts up to 1.6v....

As for the Abit it7 max.....You really want the max2 IMO....nice features but you may not be able to get to the 180+fsb range of the abit BH7 and albatron.....

I would really only look at a pe chipset for this....some may disagree, but oh well!!!

I purchased a BH7 early this morning it was on neweggs frontpage so it called me ONLY $92! Really want the IT7 but the price was prohibitive :(

this board has everything i NEED and everyone says it a really good OCer.

almost bought a refurb ASUS PE for $79 but for $13 more it is new and has a better warranty. if they had a IT7 refurb I'd be all over it though. :p
