any other way to get my fan to run 100% all the time ?

Hey everyone.

I have a problem with my video card.. I've always had small problems when I am forced to use ATITool to set the fan speed. I'm pretty convinced that the problem is because of ATITool. I am using the latest catalyst drivers with my x1900xtx. And my system often hands when I exit a game.. I am pretty convinced that this is due to ATITool's 3d detection. It doesn't work too well.. not detected some games as 3D and forcing me to add them to the exception list, but then when I exit that game it hangs.

the only reason I am using atitool is because I need to set my fan to 100%. I use the accelero x2 btw.

I really wish there was a way (registry hack maybe ? ) to set the fan 100% WITHOUT having to install 3rd party software and disabling the ati poller service

it boggles me beyond all reason that ATI did not include a fan speed setting anywhere in it's own control center ... WHY ATI ???

if anyone has any advice to give me.. PLEASE DO ! I'd really love to just be able to use the latest official catalyst drivers and be sure that my card never overheats. With atitool my fan is always running 100% and always silent.. I want that but without the bugs and crashes it causes!

thanks for any help y'all can give

Adapt the fan plug or otherwise splice in a matching plug for a PSU or mobo power source.

Alternatively if you want to try another software option then perhaps SpeedFan would work better.

the problem with ATITool is that it doesn't work with the ATI Poller service which detects 3d apps/games and raises the memory/core speeds accordingly. So in order to use ATITool you need to disable the other and manually set up a 'gaming' and 'normal' profile in ATITool.

what I would need is a software that allows me to set the speed to 100% at all times but doesn't interfere with the ATI Poller.. so I can let catalyst do its business of detecting and raising/lowering the speeds accordingly

does speedfan work with the ati poller?

In the summary you reference ATI Tray Tools but does it exhibit the same problem as ATI Tool? ATT is very useful for setting individual 3D profiles and of course includes automatic o'erclocking and fan control as well. El bloato CCC is therefore redundant and could be removed if it is currently installed and likewise the ATI Hotkey Poller service could be disabled if it conflicted.

Although I don't know if ATT is fully functional with with the x1900xtx but that's easy enough to go check at its site and forum first.

I use ATT with an X800XL and the AHP service runs automatically without issue even though I do not make use of it. I did initially use ATT to control fan speed but replaced the HSF with a Zalman and bypassed the onboard power header so do not use it now. I had also tried SpeedFan but for some reason the card's LM75 sensor was not controllable even though it was with ATT.

I think you can save a profile with Riva Tuner that includes the fan speed in it as well as the OC. You can have it load every startup with it too.
