Tried other could have been RTS / RPG crossovers and they all fell very short.
Warcraft 3
Spellforce
The D&D one
Not one had a persisent hero. My friends and I all love the concept and the RPG feel of it, but the game does get old after awhile. WB3 does it best with the in battle and after battle lvl ups. It makes you care about each match soo much more when you have that caracter you are trying to develop.
Anyway I have looked and looked and looked in vain. Anyone see one out there? It doesn't have to be fantasy based. Heck I think a TA type game with something like that would be awesome.
If anyone knows anyone in the devlopment biz, I don't see how there couldn't be money in this, as it is a sorely overlooked selling point. Eh maybe I am wrong and my friends and I are just some of the few who enjoy having a hero to develop as well as a war to fight, but I don't think so.
