I'm actually waiting in between a booster draft round now if you fellow MTGO nerds know what I mean. :)

Drafting white/red weenie/control. I think my current deck sucks, but I won the last game so..... :awe:

Honestly, the most enjoyable form of legalized gambling ever IMO. :D

my name on there is 'mmason5004'

maybe we can start a ATT clan. lol.

wow, the last time i played magic, control was blue and only blue. i got out of it when they really ramped up the nickel-and-diming, especially for the same cards over and over.

the drafts were probably the most fun, and usually the greater technical challenge.

Me too.

I played Alpha, Beta, some Revised, and I had one deck of 4th edition. Got tired of the greed. In fact its their ridiculous profits that allowed them to purchase TSR and ruin Dungeons & Dragons. Screw them.

Also, I had the Microprose Magic which was freaking AWESOME and I vowed to never again spend money on Magic cards.

I dont like it any more, but best of luck to the OP. I am so out of touch now I wouldnt even know what kind of advice to give.
What are they up to now, 8th edition?

I don't play online but a couple of friends and I play IRL almost one night a week, we generally do drafts as we don't want to get into the whole "arms race" where it just comes down to whoever buys the most cards.

I've always felt they could make an awesome MTG game using actual models and animations during fights etc, would make the game much more interesting.

There are a handful of formats that are supported online, so if you don't have the budget to keep up with "normal" decks then you can still play competitively for cheap. Pauper is a format that only allows for commons in the decks. You might think that would lead to a shallow pool of deck types but it really is quite vast. A different deck seems to win every tournament.

And 11th edition just released last month.

I started around 5th edition and stopped around 6th, not sure on the exact time frame. Sounds like they're up to "12th edition", although they've adopted a new naming scheme for 2010+. Wiki.

I just prefer playing in person so I can talk shit to my friends IRL:D

That was the problem with the card game and seems to be the problem with the online game.
Of course, selling individual cards for lots of money is how they got to be so successful. It makes sense they would dislike the Microprose game and make their own online community where they can milk people again.
Shame.
Its actually a lot of fun to play when you arent worried about money.

Steam MTG Dotp is fantastic, it simple, balanced, great fr casual players.

MTGO requires a significant commitment of time and money, I simply couldn't get over the 1997 interface.

i just can't believe they even tried to nickel and dime on that game by making you pay to foil your cards or unlock decks.

really really enjoy that game though. simple and balanced... can be hard to find a multiplayer game sometimes though. and you can't mute voice in game... which can lead to severe mic spamming
