inspired by that "did you ever fail a class in college" thread ;)

I failed gym once in high school... forgot my uniform at home too many time in one period (we had gym once/week and were only allowed 2 passes). I eventually figured out a trick, though. the gym teacher never took attendance past the letter M (the half-way mark down the attendance roster), and my last name starts with a V, so after that one F, whenever I forgot my uniform, I just cut the class :p

At my old middle school there used to be two runs a week for normal gym class (1-1.5 miles), and the gym teachers would just put colored dots on your hand everytime you did a lap. People just started bringing their own markers and hiding behind the baseball backstop.

nope, despite my best efforts

out gym teacher was a fat lazy bastard who wouldn't take the trouble to grade, everyone got B+ or A-

i got a D once, last quarter of senior year in HS. i probably deserved an F (I didn't bring gym clothes for a whole semester) but the gym teacher probably realized it would've been stupid to not allow me to graduate cause of that.

Gym is the easiest class in the world. Bring your clothes, half-ass what's asked of you, ... , profit!

probably varies, but at my school, gym was just pass/fail (along with some other electives like SAT prep classes and drivers ed) and didn't factor into your gpa at all.

I failed a semester but passed for the year. Does that still count?

My coach was actually really nice about it, explaining very calmly that I didn't have to participate if I didn't want to, but he was going to have to fail me.

My school, as long as you tried, you got an A.

My friend claims to have gotten a C in grade school art. How he pulled that off, I don't know.

I got a D in "art" when I was in 6th grade (the last year it was required at that school). I pretty much did everything I could to avoid gym... so I took "summer study" gym, and that allowed us to take a gym class 5 days/week, 4 hours/day, for 3 weeks, during the summer. We actually went to golf courses, bowling alleys, tennis courts, etc. Had it not been for that, I wouldn't have graduated high school. <shrug>

My school didn't grade you on gym. It was a class you were required to attend but you didn't get marked on it and it didn't go on record.
