Any other Alternative to Photoshop?

I'm looking for Photo Editing Software I like the power and all the functions of PS7 but, damn its cost $$ and
seems to be a bit advanced for me.
Is there any other photo editing software out there that is somewhat simpler to use and has good features?

I know, I know PS7 owns everything else but there has to be an alternative.

Please Help.

Paint Shop Pro 8.0. PSP has always been (IMO) Photoshops little half-brother. I found it did many things PS does, and can use (at least it used to be able to use) PS plugins, and is loads less expensive. Version 8.0 seems even more capable than past versions, which didn't slouch if you asked me.

there's also the gimp. it's free and good but a bit hard to use for some.

I prefer Corel Photo-Paint, IMO it's easier to use and easier to understand.

Another vote for Photoshop Elements 2.0. Definitely the best solution for the price IMHO.
