My wife is seriously wanting one of these. I know Acuras are supposed to be relatively well built and good resale value. Anyone had experiences good or bad with these?

I test drove this sucker and it rocks. I'm a big Acura fan, what other cars are you looking at? What is your budget. In my view, the CL and TL's are the best bang for the buck cars. Only negatives are that they are built in the U.S. (Ohio), some people have noticed a slight drop in quality (craftsmanship).

Why a CL though? Why not a TL? I had originally considered the CL, but it's basically the same car as the TL missing two doors and with higher insurance. Besides, the TL is getting an exterior refresh this March and the Type-S will be available too!

Since we have no children, my wife says no reason for a 4 door, she prefers 2....and if you have ever tried arguing with her.....

Our list of possibilities:

Acura 3.2 CL
Nissan Maxima SE (only 4 door she will consider)
Accord EX Coupe
Whatever Dodge/Chrysler big 2 door coupe(Stratus or something..not real sure)
If I get my way, she will take the Saturn SC2 to save a few bucks (half price of the 3.2 CL)

I cant hardly stand F-bodies (comfort reasons), so those are out
Grand Prixs arent bad, but the re-sell is suck (what she has now)
Miatas are too small
New beetles arent too bad...she says they suck
Eclipse are too small
Mustang GT Conv would be cool, except I know she would get in trouble :(

Any ideas are welcome :D

Those are all great cars, but the Acura CL rules all, make sure you get the Type-S though. Memory seating, bigger wheels, 6 disc in dash (I think the base might have it too), 260hp. Great great great value! And since the CL doesn't usually sell that well, you can probably get a good deal on it.

Visit Acura-tl.com they have a CL forum, and Honda-acura.net. Vtec.net is a pretty good site too.

Good luck on your purchase...

Get the Acura, My wife has a 94 Integra she just does't want to give up, and it has 130K miles on it and it still runs awesome, doesn't Burn oil and starts right up even in the freeze. Everything is in great shape except for the brakes/rotors but that was her fault, after those were replaced and a little chat that won't happen again :)

The IS is a sweet car, but with options, it'll go above the $35k mark easily. My friend's sister got one, and he did all he could to try to get her to move up to an S4 for a little more...

The bad thing about the IS is the RWD (which lends itself to more of a sport car role, but not a good thing in wet weather). It does have really nice styling though.

<< a buddy of mine got one for 32,000. >>

the 3.2 engine is new for this year, so he really got ripped. my roommate's was $26,500 driveout price. if you mean a 3.0 CL, then thats about right, acura prices dropped like a rock when they started making them all the same.

<< Memory seating, bigger wheels, 6 disc in dash (I think the base might have it too), 260hp >>

the type s adds the better engine, bigger wheels, and some type s badging. the memory seats and in dash changer are standard. my only beef with the whole car is that the audio is bose, about as bad as it gets. and of course you can't get something else because they only make acuras one way.

the regular CL itself is one bad ride though, i think your wife will be pleased. i like my roommate's so much i think i'll go get a TL sometime this summer. the seats are nicer than in the accord, (the head restraints are just weird in the accord) plus it has a better engine. though it does take premium. and the city mileage isn't all that good for a 3 liter 6. nissan has some weird sales techniques that turned off a friend looking at maximas. i'd take a TL over a maxima anyday.

Hmmm listen to Bose, or listen to my wife complain for 3 years that she didnt get the Acura she wanted. Bose I can turn off.

If you can afford a little more...

I'm sure your wife will appreciate a BMW.

They are not far from the Acuras in price.

BTW, all Acuras are great.

I have the 2000 Maxima, she'll hate it.

If I had my money back, I'd get one of the first two.

No matter what, go with what Mister T says, even if it's yellow!

I love my Maxima. It's easily the best car I've ever owned.
Sluggo just made it sound like his wife is looking for something sportier.
I have driven the Acuras, and they are a bit nicer, but also more expensive.
But they are far more sports car like, especially the type-s.
The Maxima has Zeeero acceleration off the line too.
Then for the same type of money as the Acuras... ok alittle more, you can get a Beemer.
