Samsung LCD

I am looking at getting a LCD monitor to replace my CRT. I know almost nothing when it comes to LCD's but see that this has a nice low 12ms response time and a 600:1 contrast ratio. Most reviews on the site seem positive and at almost 25% off it seems like a nice deal. Any one have this monitor or can point me to some reviews?

Yeah i was also going to check there, all user revies seem to be great. I will be using this for gaming so I dont want any ghosting. Also with Samsungs new 0 dead pixel policy, its looking very tempting.

I saw that the futreshop in town has the 712N. What are the difference betwwen the 710T and the 712N if the use the same panel? I am gonna go down there tomorrow and see if I like the picture quality on that 712N.

Edit: I see that the differences between the "N" series and the "T" series is that the T series is digital while the N series is only analog. So I guess my question is what's the difference between the 712 and the 710?

Yes, if their nomenclature for their 17" T series is the same as their 19" series. The 910T is DVI/Analog, 912N is analog-only and both use the same panel.

From what I could tell the 712 and the 710 where the same line sold by different vendors. All the specs matched up completely. When I bought my screen, I had the option of getting the 712N for $250 or the 710T for $384. After some serious consideration, I went with the 712N. The DVI IQ was a bit better, but not $134 better ~ to my eyeballs at least.

hanzo you said that samsung has a zero dead pixel policy...are you sure? can you give me a link? cause my 710t has some back light bleeding, but i didn't want to RMA it incase i wound up with some dead pixels, do you have a link to the policy?

I firste read it at slashdot but I just saw that it was corrected to only be in affect in South Korea. So yeah I was wrong.

I don't know if they still have the "Dellf" game going on. But you can get %25 of LCD's from Dell with the coupon, plus you can get an AMEX coupon for $150. This gives you the 2001FP or the 2005FPW for $450 shipped...both these 20" LCD's beat the pants of this 17" samsung.

A week and a half ago I got the 2005FPW for $450 shipped. The problem for you now would be finding the coupons....look on ebay (do a search for "Dellf" or "AMEX Dell"), that's where I got mine.

If you cant get the deal anymore, the 710T...I've heard...is a nice LCD for $399.

Where on their site do they say they have a 0 dead pixel policy. HERE they say otherwise.

On slahdot they repoted that Samsung had a new pixel warrenty but it was then updated saying it was only in South Korea.

Edit: Also just so you know, that $399 price is canadian funds, so that is equal to around $320 American.

buy it, i love mine, its pretty easy to forget about the backlight bleeding on mine, although it would have been nice to get a new one

My bad, didn't realize you were in CA...so you prolly cant get the Dell thing anyway 🙁 ... $329 sounds even better for the Samsung.
