any one use Open DNS?

I switched over to OpenDNS (from ATT) and noticed a small improvement.

Aside from that, I mean its DNS it just works.

well its DNS with filtering. i dont use it on my desktop for that reason, and also because comcast's dns servers work fine... but on my cell phone its a whole other story. sprint's dns servers are dog slow, and if you use opendns for cellphone internet you will see a dramatic increase in speed

The is No genral rule about it.

It would be very specific to the system from your Modem to the whole Internet world.

It Not a bold irreversible long time consuming affair, give it a try.

I have lower ping times to my isp's dns servers and most of the 'features' of open dns i would never use.

its not about ping time, rather the time between between dns query and response

I would not want to be asking an unknown dns server for queries. Too may possibilities for bad stuffs and man-in-the middle read your information things.

Were these guys on the alternate-TLD bandwagon? Or am I confusing them with someone else?

alfa147xm, just install BIND locally and be happy.
