I'm considering the following options since my Vantec Areoflow is down right too loud for me. Using Athlon XP 1800+ right now, not into OC, and don't mind the temperature increase <too much>.

It's the Copper Silent 2M and Copper Silent 2TC, Revision 2.

I'm also considering the SilenX 92mm and 80mm fans for the case, but they're rather very expensive. What's the quiest fan that's not too expensive <$10. I'm thinking of those Panaflo ones, but don't know the model.

I've used the Copper Silent 2 for a couple of systems, and I've never had any problems with it. I got temperatures of around 48C under load when I used it on an Athlon XP 3000+. It's fairly easy to install too. It's not entirely noisefree, but a lot better than most other cheap cpu coolers imo.

The same company also makes excellent 80mm case fans, which can be had dirt cheap here in europe (~3 dollars).

The Panaflo that gets talked about the most around here is the L1A. I just bought a 12L for a current build (but haven't installed it yet), and it's supposedly the same as an L1A. (I think the L1A comes without a connector, but don't hold me to that; the 12L has a 3-pin connector.) This fan has a good reputation for having a nice combination of airflow, low noise, and reliability. Here is a link you may find helpful. :) Price for a 12L at this site is $6.99.

Another one to consider is this one. Spec-wise, it's even better than the Panaflo; however, fan specs are notorious for being questionable, so how much stock you choose to put in them is up to you. I'm inclined to trust specs from reputable companies like Panasonic and PC Power and Cooling more than some of the fly-by-night brands out there, but you never know. I do know that I ordered one of these myself and like it. Puts out good airflow and is very quiet, and has a 3-year warranty. If you order one over the phone, they'll ask you if want a molex or 3-pin connector (kinda nice of them to give you the choice right when you order). Price is $8 each on the 80mm fan.

Hope this helps. :D

Just received the fan from SVC, and installed it. The thing is very quiet (maybe even silent) since now all I hear is my two case fans and two hard drives and the 9500NP. How would I quiet them (or even silent) them? Temperature increased by 3-4C but waiting for AS5 to settle in. Not too bad actually.

Any suggestion for further reduction? Hard drive isn't needed, but the front case fan is the loudest. If I want to reduce the fan to 7 volts, what's the ohm for a resistor that I must use? I would like the resistor in parralel or series (since a single resistor can get hot). I will get the amp rating later for the fan.
