I don't have one but my uncle just got one and I've been helping him learn how to use it (He got the low-end X5). Since this is the first PDA I've had any extensive experience with my opinion probably isn't the best but here's my take on it.
- The unit seems to be about average size/weight compared to others I've messed with in the store (Best Buy, Circuit City, etc...).
- From what I've read the battery life on the X5's is supposed to be amazing but we haven't had a chance to test that theory yet.
- We chose the basic X5 because it had both a compactflash slot and a smart media slot so the memory can be upgradeable (plus they make WiFi and GPS compactflash card for it too).
- I found PocketPC really easy to navigate which is important since my uncle isn't an uber-geek.
- Avticesync seems to work pretty well from my little exprience. You tell it what to sync up and then it kicks into action the minute the PDA is inserted into the cradle (I believe you can also change that so you can always sync it manually)
- The unit feels pretty solid to me and I like how bright the display is
- I believe he paid $219 shipped so I think that even though it doesn't have all the cool features of the more expensive PDAs it still makes a good starter unit
Like I said this is the first PDA I've ever spent a great deal of time with so my opinions probably aren't the best, but that's my take on it.
Hope this helps.
