I have an Epson CX4600 all in one which i use frequenlty for printing stuff. I was surprised to find that after printin about 150 pages of B&W papers i was prompted by my computer to replace the cartridge. I tried using a refill kit (IMS Ink refill system) but accidentally overfilled. I am tired of doing this and am now considering a CISS system for my printer. Does anyone know:
1. Difficulty of using and maintaining?
2. Cost for ink pigment?
3. And last worth it or not

First, there are a number of vendors for non-oem ink cartridges for your printer that could cut cost significantly without the hassle of refilling.--which is what I use for my Canons. Once I get my printing costs really down it hardly worth it to me to expend alot of effort getting it lower. If my printing volume was much higher it would be worth it.

But for information on a CISS, I recommend you check out either "steves digicams" or the "nifty stuff forums".

Just google those names without a quotes.---folks on these forums have personal experience with these and have them up and working.----and you can also get lots of other information plus an understanding of what you probably did wrong in refilling.--and where to get cheap but good non-oem cartridges. So this will give you information if its worth going the CISS, refilling, or third party cartridges but you can only evaluate it on your printing volume and learning curve pain tolerance.

But I do know bulk ink prices----in large amounts---$85.00 a gallon any color-----from MIS ink which is highly regarded. And one gallon is 3,783 ml as I recall.---another ink vendor is hobbicolors.------but Zepper might come by so I will beat him to the punch and say Zepper likes swiftink.--and if he is happy with it that says something.

Since Epsons are not thermal inkjets like Canon's, their OEM ink is more heavily pigmented. I really recommend you restrict any ink purchases to inks specially forulated
for Epson printers-----avoid any generic inks ----for both color balance and to avoid head clogging.

Hope that helps
