Since I'm freezing my a@@ off as winter sets in I was wondering if anyone has ever tried venting their case using ouside air.

I figure a several feet of dryer vent hose, one of those metal covers for the end of the hose, the kind that open at the bottom so rain doesn't come in, a screen, duct tape, and maybe a small fan? My main concerns are condensation and moisture. If the hose drops to the floor and comes back up to the power supply that should stop any water/snow from making it's way to the PS. So that leaves condensation, I don't know if that's a valid concern so any advise would be appreciated. Anyone have any tips, jokes about my stupidity, all are welcome.

Why not just put the case in a box outside and run your cables inside!!??

Well, the cost would be much greater as I would have to buy longer cables and construct a weatherproof box, which still allows good ventilation. Also, I am on the second floor so I would have to mount it somehow. It can drop to below -20c and I would be concerned about parts freezing. Not to mention trying to use the cdrw.

I remember a while back, someone in the UK stuck their machine mostly out of their window, and it sort of looked like an A/C unit :) It was back in the days of the 300A, and he got that sucker up to 675Mhz! I think in most room designs or if the rooms are cluttered, that it could pose a problem for circulation. It almost seems like a "heat cloud" in some situations, so ventilation from nice cold fresh outdoor air is not a bad idea at all.
