Has anyone here ever heard or used BriLAN. It looks like a free OS that gives you the functionality of a high end managed router. Just wondering if anyone here knew anything about it.
It's not free, for one thing. And only supports ISA Ethernet cards. In fact, looking over the spec sheets, you could do far better for yourself with OpenBSD or Linux, for free.
I know some people that use it and like it, but I've never tried it. Along similar lines you might check out http://www.mikrotik.com/ I've used it before and was pretty impressed.
Mikrotik looks promising. I've thought about trying Linux or FreeBSD, but know almost nothing about them. Id very much prefer a windows environment. Anyone know of any other software like this?
