If you are trying to get a diffrent case and some one has it. Ask them to drill out all the little pop rivets and it will fit into a way smaller box.. easier to find and cheaper to ship.. just thought I would pass the tip... some peeps are willing to do a little work to save some $$$ and some aren't just depends on the person I guess..

I just did that when I scavage stuff off an old case. Not an easy task and I bet it sucks to put back together too.

Wow I just did mine so I can paint it tommrow and it took about 7 minutes to have it completly apart... Mabey you had a bad drill of a dull bit? and as far as assembly I really don't think it will be that hard start at one end and work to the other? I guess I will just have to see?

Most case boxes come in under the oversize limit and drilling the pop rivets won't save much weight. I can't see how that would save much unless you have them shipped KD direct from the factory. Then they could fit many more into each shipping container for the boat ride across the ocean. I would imagine boat shippers consider volume as well as weight in their pricing - the more you can fit in a standard container the better. I wouldn't mind doing the pop-riveting if it would really save me (the end user) some money.
. Packaging them that way might also result in fewer broken plastic bezels. But they would have to include some real assembly instructions and that would cost them some money. And then there is the problem of packaging the sheet metal parts so they don't damage each other. The box might end up being nearly the same size from the packing material...

. I guess for every positive I can come up with a negative.
