I've heard of quite a few people who went for an 805 due to that same article and regret doing so.

Here are a few reasons why:
90nm + Netburst + Dual Core + Overclocking = shitloads of heat, so you'll need very good cooling to tame it.
Even a 4GHz Smithfield is pretty well matched to a 2.4GHz X2, which requires significantly less effort to achieve.
Powerdraw is insane, so you'll need a good quality motherboard, powersupply and very good case cooling.

Personally, I'd wait for X2s to drop in price next month if you want to build a system to overclock. A 160 buck X2 3800+ is very likely a much better deal than the 805... and there's always Conroe.

Hehe. Duvie, we did trades in the past, though heatware was forgotten to be left for each other as I had an out of town busniess meeting, it slipped my mind :|. Thought you might have remembered I am in Alaska... cooling computers is not much of a problem for me :p (house ambient temp ~68-70 degrees F year round)

Did not know if this was a repost or not, did a search for 805 and found none. I dont frequent many online tech places any more since my computer shop/ISP closed down. Primarily only when someone just wants a computer built or I am in search of an upgrade for my own computers. But in this case I was not looking for a CPU or computer upgrade, was just looking around for a few deals to obtain a iPod or simalar MP3 player that does not use a drive when I stumbled on that article. When I goto my camp a portable MP3 player would be a great addition to my FM transmitter :)
