Any of you played Thief yet?

I'm a long time fan of the series and I'd be very curious to hear what people who are playing the new one on consoles - particularly if you're new to the series - think about it.

I haven't played it. Waiting for it to go on sale TBH. The reviews just make me feel like it lost the magic that was Thief 2. And, I am waiting to hear what Yahtzee has to say about it. If he likes it, I'll give a shot before it is in the bargain bin. He is probably the biggest Thief 2 fan I know of.

I've been playing it. I like it well enough, it does feel a bit linear and some of the odd choices they've made in regards to controls. The non-linear stuff is like a hub that connects everything together. Once you've gone through a few missions the hub starts to become annoying as you continue to repeat having to slip past the same guards in the areas because it now wants you to go all the way to the other side of the map. The missions themselves are fun and there are multiple ways to do them in some of them

I'm a Thief 1 man myself.

Thief 4 certainly does not live up to the legacy of the original(s) but it isn't as bad as some of the reviews would have you thinking. I was expecting to hate it, and sure enough early on I was noticing plenty that rubbed me the wrong way. But as I have gotten further into it, the positive reviews I was seeing here and there from some respectable sources, started to make more sense.

It grows on you. Not to the point where you are in love with it, but there is definitely enjoyment to be had.

I have never played the other thief games. I have thief 4 and its a little linear at times in terms of the actions Garrett can perform. But there are multiple ways to get through the missions. I usually have a hard time finding them bcsuse the game is pretty dark. Im enjoying sneaking around. I just have issues deciding weather to knock a guard out in certain areas or just try and steal items with him patrolling around.
