Any of you Network Admins have any experience with Packeteer?

No, I'm not an admin but the admin at our university is having a heck of time trying to stop ilegal downloads and at the same time allow people to play their games. He also said specifying ports alone is not enough and the types of packets that go through are what affects the decisions made by Packeteer.

Currently, the students are all fired up and angry about their games not working or having extremely high latencies. From World of Warcraft to Halo 2 on Xbox Live. Only game that seems to be working so far with normal latencies is Half Life 2 (and its mods).

Anyone have any experience with it? did you ever have to deal with gaming on the network?
Any ideas or tips? I'm trying to help our admin so both sides will be happy.

he should be able to use the layer 7 capabilities of a packeteer to block all point to point protocols no matter what port they use.

from there he can create a custom class to allow and throttle the game ports.
