Any of you have friends that are far from being in your economic class?

Ok, before everybody blurts out that i'm all screwed up since everybody has a few poor buddies who they meet for a beer every now and then...a friend is somebody who's been over to your house, used your bathroom, etc. I got a job at a movie theater over the summer working concessions...I attend private school, drive a decent car, live in a nice sized house in a nice neighboorhood, etc...most of the other teenagers who work there are not so well off..I've been working at the theater for about 10 days now. We were talkin, and a guy mentioned something about going swimming tonight, and I said, come over to my house, we have a community pool (gated community) - so he accepted, and followed me back to my house from the theater after work in his car. We come back to my house, and he's like amazed at everything..32" TV w/ cable, my own room, my dog's room (she's a lil spoiled, heh), the pictures of my uncle with his two Vipers. I loan him a pair of shorts, he goes into the bathroom, notices the monogramed towels w/ my name on it (waste of $ I think, my mom wanted them)....this is the only stuff that he told me about, god knows what else he was wondering about. We go over to the pool, nobody's there (its 12 am on a monday night in a community of rich old folks) swim around, we get in the jacuzzi and he says he's never been in one before. All the time i'm really feeling very self-conscious, like I'm wondering if he thinks i'm all screwed up to be working when I have all this stuff, when he has to work to help pay bills.

I don't really know what to think...i could go into work tomorrow and he could have told everybody what a rich spoiled guy I am and make everybody be jealous of me, or he could be real cool about the whole thing. He invited me over to visit his house sometime after work.

Anyway this is my first guy I've had over to my house who was so amazed at everything..so tell me about any friendships you may have had w/ ppl not similar to you (btw, i'm white and Jewish (first Jew he's every met), and he's Hispanic) not to mention the economic..or do they all just turn to jealousy for one another?

Well I tend to hang out with people in the same socio-economic class as myself for the simple fact that poor people will always try to take advantage of you.

oh man johnny i didnt think you were an ass but now i definetly do. not all poor people try to take advantage of you. when my parents immigrated to this country they were quite poor, now they put both of there kids through universitys they own there own business, they own 2 homes and have made sure im in a better position then they ever were. you're spoiled tool.

they never tried to take advantage of anybody, they never got on welfare or anything like that, they worked hard and perserveered.
