Curious as to how well known it is over here, since its launch I've been hanging out there a lot. And hardly ever come by here...

http://StackOverflow.com

Personally I have some gripes about the way it is set up, but because of its audience, it is still a verg good place to get questions answered fast.

If I had the time I would code a version of it myself and rethink some of its pitfalls.

Very good site. Not perfect, but better done than expertsexchange.com

And I don't think I ever came here for programming advice, just not enough people. Usenet or a more specialized site (asp.net/forums, etc.) is always better. StackOverflow is more user friendly than usenet and has almost as many people, heck maybe more.

You don't have to pay... just keep on scrolling down. The answers are right there.

This site?: http://www.experts-exchange.com/

All I see is "Start your 30-day free trial to view this Expert Comment or ask the Experts your question."

I hate that site. They've obviously paid to come up in the top five on Google searches for many technical topics, and I can't count the number of times I've clicked a link to Experts Exchange. I haven't paid any attention to them recently, but you definitely used to have to sign up to see the answers. They would post a short snippet terminated by an ellipsis, and that's it.

As for StackOverflow, I like that site and have gotten some good answers there. But I was a little put off at OPs apparent need to compare us to them. We're just a little corner of a much larger technical site, and I think people get good answers to the questions they post here (of which there is a pretty steady flow most days). We're not to be compared with a dedicated programming site in terms of quantity, but I'll put our members' quality up against theirs any day.

I certainly didn't have a need to compare SO to AT.

I was just curious, having been a longtime member of AT forums, to see what the AT crowd had to say about SO.
