Looks fun, and its marked down sixty percent.

But I tried a lot of Remastered Lucas Arts games and found they had lost their shine over the years. They're kinda clunky compared to modern games and nostalgia isn't enough for me.
And since I brought up nostalgia I have to say it: I will never feel the same joy and wonder as I did when I first started gaming on a computer. DOS was a pain in the butt to get working correctly but the games I played back then really made me feel good inside.

End Rant

Own it, haven't played it. I suspect if you compare it to adventures back then, you might like it; if you want something incredible, you might not. It seems intended to be 'another game like that era', for nostalgia, but with some modern sensibility.

honest??

i would rather watch a walkthrough, or a speedrun.

Wait wait, hear me out.

We used to play these game back in the 90s, and we loved them. A whole bunch of us, friends of 18-25yo, in the RPG store we used to work / loiter at, on an old 386. We would hotseat, with each person playing a bit and everyone else watching and all together trying to figure out the puzzles. And, it took the brainpower of 3+ people to solve some absurd puzzles.

I miss that social aspect. Playing on my own is just not as much fun.

These days, im all about multiplayer, i love playing with, or against other people. But these strictly single player games rarely get me as they once did, more so if they belong to one of those categories where we used to hotseat.

So no, i won't play it.

Fair enough.

-----------------------

OK I bought it and played. The characters are fun and the stories are interesting.
Also, they don't mention this in the videos or on the steam page, but there's a built-in help system. You call a number on your cell phone (a 1987 brick) and you get a tip if you need one. If you dont get a tip it means your current character has nothing to do right now.
You eventually get up to 5 characters and can swap between them instantly. Death is impossible, as is losing or missing something & becoming permanently stuck.
Sometimes one character has to take an action that lets another character make progress. One of the reviews said at some point in the game Character A has to set up an elaborate distraction causing an NPC to go investigate and let Character B have access to a locked area. Sounds fun to me.
The game does have that issue of being unclear what to do sometimes, but with the hint system thats a minor issue.

Also, playing on easy mode removes almost half the puzzles from the game, making it shorter and less interesting.

along the lines of the above discussion, here is an article explaining how adventure games killed themselves. Apparently they revived themselves too.

(Note the date.)
