Any of you guys know anything about Air Conditioners?

We have this big Kenmoor air conditioner we got installed over the winter (odd eh) outside, its about .75 metres by .75 meters large. Anyways it had this big rubber cover on it I guess to keep snow out, no body has run it yet so I took the cover off and on the control panel inside I tried to set the program to run at 14 temp, whatever scale that is, it was at 28 when I got home (its off and its to warm in the house). I've set all the program times to be at 14 and tried bringing down the temp (theres a way to do it it says temporarily) but it doesn't appear to be going. Is there anything I have to do to it outside ? I don't have the manual handy which I guess would be key...

call the guys that installed the thign over the winter.
you should have one year warranty, and they shoudl at least tell you how to turn the damn thing on at least once 😛
duh question: your thermostat is on cool right? with temp set below the ambient temp? ^^;; had to ask

Did you check to make sure the outside unit has power? There's usually a separate breaker somewhere - mines on the outside of the house. Since the unit is new and was covered, there's probably no need to clean the coils or oil the fan. You might check and possibly change the air filter also.

Sometimes when they install a new unit, it has to be charged with Freon, i.e. the lines have no coolant in them. You can damage the compressor if the lines are empty. I would call a certified technician for this one.
