talked to her on sunday. Looks like she is doing 8 months. I feel bad for her. But atleast she has friends in there now, and making the most of it.

Let me get this straight. She was caught with coke at some point in the recent past, and was awaiting trial/sentencing when this thread was created on Saturday. She was tried and sentenced in less than 24 hours over a weekend, and she's already got friends in the joint. That's not even getting into the ridiculously low sentence for major trafficking.

Do you think I'm stupid?

That's weird, since the sentencing guidelines on the linked page say 2 years is the minimum for >1kg.
It was probably stepped on 2 or 3 times and they only convict you for the actual coke content. Of course the alternate explanation is that the OP is yanking our chain. :ninja:

Pat them on the head and tell them that, deep inside, they're really a good boy. Then send them home with a fifth of canadian rye.

She could be out right now if she wanted. She decided to stay in the prison until her court date..which I don't know when it is. She gets time and half served for every day she is in there until the actual sentencing. That's all I really know right now.

I would not joke around about something like this.

so, how does she come up with the 8 months, when she has not even been in front of a judge?

Either you or her is blowing smoke up someones ass.

Someone probably heard her "sob story" that was filtered and tossed out a jail house estimate.

I don't think it's as strict here as the states when it comes to drugs... but such a large amount and not the first time? Most likely looking at jail time I would imagine. Not a criminal law expert though. You don't have to be if you don't get caught. :p

Use drones or something next time, geeze!

Is she gonna be on border security?

Aw man, I think I remember an episode where a Canadian was smuggling something back. Think it was narcotics, but don't remember details.

Another episode had some guy who went to South America, admitted to partying around a lot of crack cocaine, but didn't use.

I thought you could bring up to 3 kilos of bullshit across the border if you declared it.

Actually, I think the rule is you can spew up to three kilos of bullshit before you get banned on AT.
