Have it *refinished*.

I don't know the details, but my first pad away from the folk's house had a tub refinished and that sucker looked like new.

I'd highly recommend it!!!

I'd highly recommend *against* trying to do something with it yourself!

they have DIY kits like this for $80 and home depot has a kit for ~20, dunno how the finished product looks though.

You can resurface bathtub but you really need to spray it with something like HVLP sprayer. You can buy epoxy mixtures at your local paint store.

We had a tub refinished in a house we renovated. It was only about $160.00, but we got a hard sell on some kind of protective coating to go over it, which we declined. No idea how well it's holding up, but it looked great.

I completely agree with this!!! A friend attempted this before many years ago and it turned out horribly wrong. Go to a professional ASAP!

People have had mixed results over the long haul after getting a bathtub resurfaced . Custom bathtub liners are a much more of a sure thing.
