I am looking to apply to cal poly SLO, and Im hoping to get in as it is my first choice school. I currently have a 3.67. I am currently taking 3 AP classes, and 1 Honors level class (AP USH,AP Bio, AP CS Java, English H.). I am taking the SAT in a few months.

For those of you who have ever applied or go to this school, what kind of grades/SAT etc. did you have in high school? Just interested to see what the statistics were of others. Thanks!

uh, this was 6 years ago when I applied, but I had a 3.8 or something unweighted GPA, 5 AP classes, 1450 sat and I got in, but didn't go. And I lived 40 minutes away from the school.

I didn't apply there personally, but two of my good friends in HS went there, and neither of them had a particularly high GPA or great SATs. You'll probably be fine, but then again I'm pretty sure it depends heavily on what major you're applying as.

What major? I applied in 2004, had a 3.8x unweighted gpa, 1300 sat and got in for CPE.

well, i got in in 1998 and i only had a 1250 SAT but my gpa was over 4 along with my millions of AP classes. it was a safety for me. depending on your major, you seem like you'd fit their numbers profile.

you haven't taken the sat yet EVER?! by this time, you should have taken it twice. (well i'd recommend at least twice, once for at least practice, another for real, and a third if you don't like your score.)

I'm currently going there and will graduate this year. I went in with a 3.8, 1300 SATs for electrical engineering. The average for engineering is now 3.94 and like a 1380 or something for the SATs.

The incoming GPAs/SATs vary greatly by major. Since you'll probably be in the business dept, I'd say a GPA of a 3.5 and SATs around 1150 will most likely get you in. I'm sure you've heard this, but it's hard to change majors after you enter Cal Poly so you should have a pretty good idea of what major you want to be when you apply.

Yes. There is no undeclared major here. Also, it sounds like this is the info you're looking for: Fall 2006 incoming students profile
You'll like that business majors don't have major classes on fridays (they're not offered).. us engineers hate them for that ;)
