I've been toying around with them on the garage band app and they seem to make for some very interesting music.

I came up with this which follows G, Bm, F, Am/Esus4. There are a few other chords in there very briefly but those are the basic ones.

The piano lead for the body of the song practically wrote itself.

Lots of people use them to spice up a song. The most recent song I've been learning is Alicia Keys, "Ain't Got You" and she uses a chromatic passing in one place to give that verse some character.

nah, i never really got into them. i love ragtime, but anything jazzier than that begins to not make sense in my head.
