What problems are you having with win2k? I'm about to install it on my system and would like to know what I'm getting myself into. Most post I've seen make it sound rock solid.

Don't worry. It runs fine. Service Pack releases are mainly bug fixes for specific interactions between various HW and SW. There are always a couple of feature enhancements (ATA100, S/PDIF), but for the most part they won't affect the majority of users much.

Install it! Win2k is IMHO (and I don't see how anyone could dispute) the best OS MS has released since Win95. I love it, and I'll never switch back to that sh!tty Win9x kernel.

Yeah win2k is great but i'd really like to see ata100 and s/pdif. THose are about the only two thing I miss about windows 98. Plus i can't brag about my 3damrk 2000 score anymore

ok, i may be having a brain fart here, but how can a sp update give you spdif? i mean, my spdif i/o is dependant on my sound card not my OS. please explain what you kids are talking about here.

StrangeRanger: currently, no sound cards can correct pass a DD/DTS signal via their SPDIF output because of a limitation/problem with win2k. This is slated to be fixed in sp2. The SBLive 5.1 series drivers hack around this, but it's not a 100% fix, and it's only for the 5.1 series Lives. All other cards will have to wait for SP2 most likely
